Education and Community Outreach Are Regular Practice for Dr. Rahman
Ra’Kerry K. Rahman, is an orthopedic surgeon and spine care specialist with the Orthopedic Group at Springfield Clinic. He specializes in scoliosis and cervical spine conditions including spinal deformity in both adult and pediatric patients as well as neck and arm pain problems.
Dr. Rahman is committed to the surgical principle that it is optimal to do the least amount of surgery necessary for a successful outcome. He continually seeks scientific research and training into advanced surgical techniques and currently employs such cutting-edge technologies as image guidance and minimally invasive surgery (MIS).
In May 2016, Dr. Rahman will travel to Cali, Columbia as part of an outreach mission with SpineHope to perform scoliosis surgery for children in need. He’s also been invited to speak on Cervical Fusions at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center to help highlight their new Spine Hospital.
As part of his balanced approach to adopting new technology, Dr. Rahman will travel to Japan in June 2016 to observe spine endoscopy (the next frontier in spine technology) with a leading spine surgeon. Dr. Rahman plans to incorporate spinal endoscopy into his practice by the end of this year.
UIS Athletics and Springfield Clinic Sports Medicine Announce Partnership
The University of Illinois Springfield and Springfield Clinic Sports Medicine have commenced a partnership effective immediately, as announced by Director of Athletics, Kim Pate. The partnership will provide UIS with sports medicine physician coverage and was developed with an emphasis on quality of care, improved access, and enhancement of the UIS student – athlete experience.
